Nila Patel Leicester – A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of Nila Patel, 56, who was assaulted on Aylestone Road, Leicester, after a road traffic collision on Tuesday, 24 June.
Michael Chuwuemeka, of Dover Street, Leicester, has been formally charged and is set to appear before Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Saturday. Patel was taken to hospital following the incident but sadly died from her injuries on Thursday, 26 June. A post-mortem examination confirmed the provisional cause of death as a head injury.
In addition to the murder charge, Chuwuemeka faces several other serious charges. These include dangerous driving, possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, and attempted grievous bodily harm in relation to a separate incident on Welford Road earlier that same day.
He has also been charged with the assault of an emergency worker following an alleged attack on a police officer during his arrest. Furthermore, authorities have linked Chuwuemeka to another offence—causing actual bodily harm to a separate victim in London during the early hours of 24 June.
The investigation remains ongoing, and Leicestershire Police continue to appeal for witnesses and information related to the sequence of incidents.
