OMAHA, Nebraska — The Skutt Catholic High School community is devastated by the sudden death of Lainey Foral, a 17-year-old student and vibrant member of the SkyHawk family, who was killed late Tuesday night in a car accident involving a Skutt Catholic vehicle.
According to local law enforcement, the crash occurred shortly after 11 p.m. near 156th and Center Streets when the vehicle in which Lainey was a passenger left the road and struck a guardrail. Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but Lainey was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other students sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Lainey was known for her bright smile, warm personality, and deep sense of compassion. A junior at Skutt Catholic, she excelled academically while also participating in extracurriculars, including the student council and community service club. Teachers remember her as kind-hearted, responsible, and always willing to help others.
Friends recall Lainey as the dependable friend who made everyone feel included and valued. She was often seen volunteering at school events or studying alongside classmates, offering encouragement and support.
The Skutt Catholic administration expressed profound sadness, offering grief counseling for students and staff. The school’s flag will be flown at half-staff in her honor, and a community vigil is being organized on school grounds next week.
Lainey leaves behind her parents, two younger brothers, grandparents, and a large group of classmates and friends who will forever remember her generous spirit and joyful presence. Funeral service details will be shared publicly once confirmed by her family.
