Jamie Spear, the esteemed Human Resources Director for the City of Tybee Island, Georgia, tragically passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, following a fatal car accident on Highway 80 near the Bull River Bridge. The multi-vehicle crash resulted in one fatality and sent six individuals to the hospital. Spear was the sole fatality in the incident.

The Tybee Island Police Department, Chatham County Fire Department, and Chatham Emergency Management Agency responded to the crash site. Highway 80 was closed for several hours as emergency responders worked at the scene.
