Brittney Shuler, a 36-year-old resident of Hinesville, Ga., has been identified as the victim of a fatal two-vehicle accident in Okatie on June 7, according to the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:25 p.m., and Shuler, the driver of a 2008 Ford sedan, died at the scene from her injuries, confirmed Master Trooper William Bennett with the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Three passengers in Shuler’s vehicle were injured and taken to a Savannah hospital for treatment. The driver of the second vehicle, a 2022 Ford pickup, was not injured in the collision.
Bennett explained that the Ford sedan was traveling east on S.C. Highway 170, while the pickup was headed west. As the pickup made a left turn onto Calawassie Drive, it was struck by the sedan.
Both eastbound lanes of S.C. Highway 170 were closed for several hours as first responders and accident investigators worked at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
