Andrew Roberts, a 14-year-old from Clearlake, was tragically found dead on Sunday night after being reported missing from Hidden Valley Lake’s Big Beach area earlier in the afternoon.
Roberts had been with a group when he was last seen at approximately 4:15 p.m., telling others he was heading to the pool. When he did not return, he was reported missing around 6 p.m., prompting a widespread search effort.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office quickly mobilized the Lake County Search & Rescue Team, along with K9 Sadie, to begin the search, which was later joined by multiple agencies, including KCORP, Cal Fire, the North Shore Dive Team, South Lake Fire, and Hidden Valley Security. Both land and water searches were conducted throughout the evening.
Despite the intense search efforts, it wasn’t until around 10:40 p.m. that the North Shore Dive Team discovered Roberts’ body. The exact location of the discovery was not specified by authorities.
“The Lake County Sheriff’s Office extends our heartfelt condolences to Andrew’s family, friends, and the entire community during this difficult time,” the sheriff’s office stated in its report. They also expressed gratitude to the numerous agencies and community members who assisted in the search.
This devastating loss has left the community in mourning, and the sheriff’s office thanked the public for their support and concern during the search operation.
